If there is a problem with jack, it is probably better to fix jack than to replace jack with something else. You need to configure the sound card anyway, so jack doesn't make things more complicated than it would have been othervice, plus that there's a lot of other advantages using jack as well. So please let me know what the problem is.

Yes, 100% agreed. Jack feels very uncomfortable under macOS and Windows. There are really good audio APIs on both systems. Please support those APIs, coreaudio and wasapi. Since Radium is such a great and innovative software, it is a pity not to support it.

Hi,

Jack is not an alternative to coreaudio or wasapi. It runs on top of those. Jack is an alternative to Juce, Portaudio, RtAudio, etc., but has the additional advantage of giving the possibility to sample-accurately synchronize audio software, make audio software more stable (if the audio part crashes, the rest of the program will not), plus make the development of the software easier and faster by providing functionality that the other systems don't.

If something doesn't work, please let me know. Just suggesting to replace a 3rd party library makes very little sense. Maybe it's the right solution to the problem, maybe not, but you need to provide more information.

Well, the current Jack release for window doesn't provide option to run on top of WASAPI, but that should be fixed automatically in the next release since Jack uses PortAudio on Windows. Newer versions of PortAudio supports WASAPI, so the next release of Jack will support WASAPI as well. If this is an important feature, please let me know, and I'll try to make a new release of Jack happen.

Surely jack audio brings a lot of advantages, but I am talking about convenience: People need to run that kind of annoying oldschool jack audio server installation, and most people only will do because Radium requires it, since the native os can support the same functionality. I am only saying that this can already be a reason why people may not use Radium. If the jack audio server was directly integrated into Radium, without requiring a separate installation, this would be much better (and was quitting with the exit of radium). Just a thought...

Yes, that's a good idea and it's already on my mental todo list to include the jack libraries with radium so that you don't have to install jack first.

Nice to see, Jack installation isnt required anymore on Windows. Is that possible for macos, too? Maybe with kind of jack->coreaudio wrapper?
