Hmm, I didn't have any problems adding the letters a to f, except that I spent a very (VERY) long time finding the right keys in the "fr bepo" keyboard. You're using plasma with wayland? I'll check again, maybe I only tested a-f under that gnome-thing, not plasma.

There's a lot of things that are not in the manual though. E.g. Ctrl + J to move cursor (although that one is in the list of common keybindings). There is already Left Alt + Return to edit/add a note by writing it in full, but what you're proposing is probably more efficient. Maybe you can propose some incremental improvements to Left Alt + Return?
