Note text

Note text

"Note text" is a way to define notes by text. "Note text" notes are placed in the "Note text" sub-track.

Examples:

  • C-3 defines the note C at octave 3
  • F#4 defines the note F sharp at octave 4

The "Note text" sub-track is visible by default. To hide or show the "Note text" sub-track:

  1. Move mouse pointer inside the track you want to edit.
  2. Right-click to open the popup menu.
  3. Toggle the "Note text" entry.

Selection vs. range

There are two ways to select notes:
  1. Selection in the pianoroll.
  2. Ranged notes in the note-text subtrack (called "range").
If there is no range in the current block, all functions operating on a range will instead work on the selected notes in the current track.

Differences between selection and range:

  • A range is all notes within the "range-rectangle" (spanning both lines and tracks), while a selection is all notes that has been selected.
  • Selection and range don't share the same clipboard buffer.
  • While selection operates on a track, a range operates on a block.

  • To create range:
    1. Press Left Win/Cmd + Z to cancel current range, if necessary.
    2. Move cursor to the upper left corner of the range you want to create.
    3. Press Left Win/Cmd + B
    4. Move cursor to the lower right corner of the range you want to create.
    5. Press Left Win/Cmd + B again.
