I was wondering what my options are for sampled instruments? I'm used to the workflow of MilkyTracker and Renoise, which have more easy ways of creating multi-sampled instruments (load a bunch of samples into available slots, assign to piano notes, tune up properly, play away). Is there currently a feature for doing this, or do I need to set up instruments in another program/use pre-existing samples (SF2, mostly). I use Windows and Linux, so I would prefer flexibility while maintaining support for the platforms I use (so, the built-in PureData, for most of my use, is out).
Also, will the puredata instance in Radium do synthesis? That's another tool I want to look at, but couldn't seem to get working (in Linux).
Sampled instruments support?
Re: Sampled instruments support?
Unfortunately, there's no interface to edit multiple sample per instrument in the sampler yet. So yes, you have to use an external program for now. The sampler instrument supports sf2 and xi instruments.

And yes, you can do synthesis with the pure data instrument. When you select "New Pd Instrument" from the track menu in the editor, you get a simple sine wave instrument. Also take a look at the Blowfish demo song.
