Picking inputs and outputs of a sound object

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Radium, still exploring and might be missing something obvious, since I can't find anything in the manual or on the forum:
is there a way to choose which outputs of an sound object (be it LADSPA, VST or an integrated plugin) connect to which inputs of another? I've noticed that some objects, like Patchbay, offer multiple inputs, but I can't find a way to choose to which of those I'm connecting a device. I assume I'd need a way to do that to work with some of VST3 effects also (sidechaining and similar stuff), and on the other hand it would be useful to be able to separate left from right outputs of some instruments...

Also, I can't find any info on what's the use for objects like Pipe, Pipe8, Send, Send8 and so on.

Patchbay is the object that's made for this. Put a patchbay between the two objects you have connected. In the instrument widget of the patchbay, you can patch any input channel to any output channel.
Also, I can't find any info on what's the use for objects like Pipe, Pipe8, Send, Send8 and so on.

If you click the blue button in the instrument widget with the name of the type of object (e.g. the "Send" button for send objects), you'll usually get a small explanation for what it does, at least for the built-in objects.

I had a feeling it was useful for such things, but still I don't see how I can pick and choose which outputs/inputs to use.
For example, if I have two instruments that have stereo outputs and connect them to patchbay, both their outputs will end up on the first two inputs of a patchbay (both left channels on the first input, both right channels on the second one). Is there a way to route those differently?

Also if I have a sound object that has multiple outputs (a drum machine that has separate outputs for every instrument, for example), it would be nice if I could route those outputs through different FX chains, but I don't see how to select which outputs I'm connecting when I drag the line in modular mixer (it's always the first one). Am I missing something here?

There isn't a way to avoid sending all channels to the patchbay, but why do you want to avoid that?
For instance, in this screenshot, the patchbay routes channel 1 from "Sample player 1" into channel 0 of "Main Pipe":

Yes, use the patchbay. :-) You can name the instrument so you see more clearly in the mixer what it does. For instance "Route 3 -> 0".

Right. Had to get my head around it. So to do what I want, I need to use multiple patchbays, receive multiple outputs from an instrument on one of them, for example, but to route them to different effects that have only two (L and R) inputs, I first need to route them to other patchbays that will remap the channels I want back to outputs 0 and 1. I think I get it now!
