Hello !
All sequencers work with chromatic scale by default. Some allow to pick a scale to work with. I think it would be cool to be able to select a scale and a key for entire song and be able to suspend that feature on each track. That would condense the piano roll (the grid would exclude notes that don't belong to selected scale), make transposing easier and faster (transpose one up in C major is going from C right to D) and transposing a bunch of notes is more melodic since they are all in the same scale and key, the entire song could be listened to in a different scale (changing a scale would transpose each note to nearest note in a new scale), the same for entering notes with keyboard (in C major pressing '2'-C# would result in D).

Re: Scales
Sounds like a good idea. Maybe a "scale" button, next to the "grid" button, which shows a popup menu letting you select (or create new) scales?
Re: Scales
Wait, there isn't a "grid" button. There is a field where you can set grid, and there is a label above it. If it was possible to squeeze in "scale" next to "grid", that might be perfect, but I don't see enough space there.
Re: Scales
Yes a popup. The button could be part of the editor. Alternatively, the bottom bar.
Also, range selection does not seem to work with arrows ? Selecting with arrows is the quickest and most intuitive (left win + arrows ?)

Re: Scales
Also , sometimes during editing a track hooked up to vst instrument, note is triggered, removed and 'note off' seems to get lost and the triggered note keeps playing even when the playback is off. At least I think that is what is happening. Does 'stop' sends 'note off' to all notes on all octaves ? If it doesn't, I think it should.
Re: Scales
Yes, it would be cool if scales were customizable. Instead of providing a fixed list, provide a way to select notes, key (transpose amount) and ability to save and recall presets.

Yes, that's a good idea too. Not sure it is the quickest though. Quickly pressing and releasing Left win + b seems less strainful for the hands than holding the left win key. Either you have to bend your leftmost finger on the left hand to press left win, or you have to move your hole hand. But of course, it would be great if both methods worked. I think it might be hard to implement though because keyboard handling is very low level in Radium.

I don't quite understand. Can you make a step by step recipe?

It did in the old days, but for some good reason, which I don't remember right now, it was changed to only send out "note off" messages to match already sent out "note on" messages.

"Quickly pressing and releasing Left win + b seems less strainful for the hands than holding the left win key."
Yes, but In order to make a new range selection, another hotkey has to be pressed. Also, selecting with a modifier key pressed and arrows is the standard way of selecting. On windows it's shift+arrows, it's a habit of most computer users.
"Can you make a step by step recipe?"
I can't replicate this. It does not happen often and I don't know the cause. I just remember having Asio latency set to very low , getting a bit glitched playback and editing the piano roll when this occurred. The obvious remedy is to send note off to all notes. This is know to happen from time to time when working with MIDI and hardware. A note can get triggered and note off message can get lost when editing.
Some other things that come to mind:
How about jumping up and down in the editor with page up/down by 1 bar. There often tends to be repetition in each bar, and being able to move to the same line in each bar is useful.
Shouldn't the length of note inserted between two notes in the note column end where the bottom note begins ?
C
D
E
If D is inserted last, its preferable end should be the start of E. Now D goes all the way down. Maybe there could be an option to make the note column monophonic when inserting notes with keyboard ?

Good point. I'll see if it can be implemented. Also, selecting with a modifier key pressed and arrows is the standard way of selecting. On windows it's shift+arrows, it's a habit of most computer users
I guess the program doesn't send note off to all instruments because that takes too much time and causes glitches in audio. The program could schedule fewer note off messages at the time though, and there should perhaps be a "Panic!" option in the menus that does this.I can't replicate this. There is also another way. You can simply delete the instrument, and right afterwards undo the deletion.
Good point. Not sure if page up / down are the best keys. Page up/down are nice if you want to move quite far down or up, but maybe bar length is very often what you expect to be "quite far", not sure. How about jumping up and down in the editor with page up/down by 1 bar. That's really strange. D is supposed to end at E. Unless you press left shift at the same time. Maybe you pressed left shift?Shouldn't the length of note inserted between two notes in the note column end where the bottom note begins ?

Re: Scales
Goodness. You're right. That's a bug. Wonder when that happened. That's really strange. D is supposed to end at E. Unless you press left shift at the same time. Maybe you pressed left shift?
EDIT: Seems like the bug was introduced between 5.6.0 and 5.6.5. In april or may this year.
EDIT 2: Fixed now. Creating new release too. Also, I was wrong about pressing left shift. Pressing left shift doesn't make note play to the end of the block, it avoids stopping earlier notes from ending at the new note's position.
